Torsion Springs  **WARNING**

The spring mechanism is under extreme tension, extremely hazardous and can cause serious injury.  Repairs and adjustments to the spring system should be performed by a qualified door technician only.

Torsion Springs have an average life span of 7 - 10 years.  Lewis Door Service uses 15,000 cycle springs rather than the industry standard of 10,000.  You can be sure you are getting the best when you choose Lewis Door.

MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

Once A Month

  1. Manually operate the door.  If it feels unbalanced or is binding, call Lewis Door Service.
  2. Check to be sure the door opens and closes fully.  Adjustments to the limits and/or force may be necessary.
  3. Perform the safety reverse test.

Once A Year

  1. Oil door rollers, bearings and hinges.  The opener does not require additional lubrication.  Do  not grease the door tracks.  You may contact Lewis Door Service to perform this service by calling:        502-937-5505 or 888-342-2250.

Safety Reverse Sensors Troubleshooting

If your garage door will not close unless you hold your finger on the wall button and if the eye indicator lights do not glow steadily, check for:

  • Objects or debris (dust, cobwebs, etc) blocking the sensors.
  • Disconnected or broken wires to the sensors or back of motor head.
  • Misalignment.  Both sensor lights (color does not matter) should glow steadily when correctly aligned.

Open the Door Manually During a Power Failure

Pull the emergency release handle down and back(toward the opener).  The door can then be raised and lowered manually as often as possible.

To disengage the lockout feature, pull the handle straight down.  The trolley will reconnect on the next UP or DOWN operation either manually or by using the door control or remote.
